Inside the Transformation: How RDT Supported AIB’s AI Evolution

A few months ago, we had the opportunity to work with a change agent from Allied Irish Banks (AIB). She arrived with a clear sense of purpose, but a wide field of unknowns—curious about cloud, data, and AI, but not yet grounded in the fundamentals. Her questions sparked a learning journey that ended in something far more significant than any of us had initially planned.
Once we identified that the most effective modality for her would be a short, intensive, and foundational training, we tailored the sessions accordingly and explored the following IT topics together:
- IT systems and cloud architecture
- The landscape of cloud types: public, private, hybrid, community
- The Unified Namespace way as a structure for resilient, real-time data flow
- The cultural shift from outsourcing to open sourcing—both for capability and confidentiality
- AI systems and the role of agents in organisational intelligence
- How to think about the future of data with both pragmatism and imagination
What made this experience memorable wasn’t just the content. It was the way she managed to internalise and reflect on broader organisational dynamics—despite not being allowed to share any internal details—that led her to question defaults, rethink risks, and imagine new roles for data within strategic leadership.
Since then, she’s been appointed UK AI Lead at AIB. We don't claim sole credit—but we do believe that structured, human-centred learning creates space for these kinds of evolutions.
In our view, this is what a training approach to future-ready leaders looks like: not a curriculum, but a conversation. Not a certificate, but a shift in lens.
Sometimes, all it takes is someone asking better questions at the right time—and the willingness to reimagine what they’re capable of.
